History of the Palace of Catalan Music Barcelona
Palace was designed in the Catalan Modernista style by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. It was built between 1905 and 1908 for Orfeó Català. Orfeó Català is a choral society that was founded in 1891 and it was a leading force in the Catalan cultural movement that came to be known as the Renaixença (Catalan Rebirth).
In 1909, the architect received an award from the Barcelona City Council for the best building completed the previous year. Palace was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, it is the only concert hall declared as such. More than 500,000 people attend musical concerts at the Palace each year, ranging from symphonic and chamber music to jazz and Cançó (Catalan song).

The walking distance from Plaça Catalunya is 5 minutes. If you don’t fancy walking, there are also plenty of public transportation options you can check out. For example buses V15, V17, and 47 make a stop near the concert hall. Also metro lines L1 (red) and L4 (yellow) reach the Palau de la Música Catalana.
When to Visit?
The Palace of Catalan Music Barcelona is open every day between 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. The admission fee for a guided tour is 20 € for adults between 35-65 years old. The price for seniors over 65 and adults under 35, is 17 €. Children, who are less than 10 years old, get a free entry.
